This meal was to celebrate the first anniversary of our website, so we invited a few web development veterans (?) to join us for a gathering.

Coincidentally, around June, we came across this newly opened buffet restaurant.

After doing some research, we found out that it’s a collaboration between a Japanese-style hotel, Gracery Hotel, and a long-standing ice dessert shop in Kaohsiung, KI A PENG SIAN.

Dining experience

Environment

⬆️ As you enter the dining area, you will be greeted by a spectacular copper Godzilla statue, which is handcrafted and said to have cost 700,000 Japanese Yen.

⬆️Indeed, the dining area is not very spacious.

Dishes

⬆️

On the left is the red wine-braised beef, which is incredibly delicious! The only problem is that friends who didn’t get it in the first round didn’t get to try it until the end.

The other dishes include baked oysters and although the meat portions are small, they are all common and delicious, such as smoked salmon and pork knuckles.

⬆️ A certain elegant friend in our group took some bread and salad in the first round, but later realized that we had to compete for the dishes, lmao XD

⬆️ One serving per person of the ‘Spicy and Sour Fresh Shrimp with Vermicelli Hot Pot,’ which was slightly spicy but incredibly delicious. Those who enjoy seafood mentioned it was very fresh.

⬆️”Pani-puri” is a popular Indian dish, and the combination of sauces makes it quite delightful.

⬇The rest of the photos

⬆️The place where the red wine braised beef was originally served was replaced with fried chicken.

Ice treats

The buffet offers a total of six different ice treats. Starting from the top and going from left to right, they are:

  • Banana Crispy Ice Cream
  • Soybean and Peanut Ice Pop
  • High Mountain Oolong Green Tea Ice Cream
  • Durian Ice Cream
  • Lemon Ice Pop
  • Passion Fruit Ice Pop

Haha, I dare not eat durian, but my friend had two and seemed quite satisfied with it.

Conclusion

Advantages:

  • The dishes are exquisitely presented, and there were no disappointing dishes.
  • The environment is clean and spacious.
  • Considering it’s a buffet, the price of 680 NTD plus a service charge is quite reasonable.
  • The ice treats from “枝仔冰城” are delicious, especially the durian flavor.

Disadvantages:

  • Despite being a Japanese-style buffet, there are no raw fish options like sashimi.
  • The selection of dishes is somewhat limited.
  • The refill of dishes can be slow, especially for hot dishes. ➡ Once the restaurant’s operation is smoother, it is hoped that the refill speed will improve.

If you don’t mind the mentioned disadvantages and are looking for a new dining experience, you can start making reservations now.

However, a small suggestion is to arrive on time and start with the hot dishes during the first round.
