Dining experience

Environment

I woke up early on my day off with great excitement for the highlight of the day – a birthday feast. Accompanied by my family, we arrived at the 1st floor of Taipei 101 for check-in.

Shortly after, the staff guided us, taking the elevator from the 1st floor up to the 86th floor where the restaurant was situated. As the elevator’s speed increased, my excitement soared as well.

After stepping out of the elevator, what greeted the eye was a futuristic setting and decorations.

The restaurant lobby is adorned with an abundance of natural materials, perfectly aligning with what the staff mentioned inside the elevator. They seamlessly incorporate Taiwan’s landscapes and cultural significance into the design.

Dishes

The restaurant is divided into four distinct areas.

Perhaps with the blessing of the birthday celebrant, our seats were located in the restaurant’s highlighted section – the area featuring lobster, scallops, abalone, and steak.

Their steak is famous for being seared in a charcoal oven at 800 degrees after slow-roasting, resulting in a ribeye steak that’s then paired with a spicy butter sauce. Taking a bite and dipping it into the sauce, I experienced an explosion of juices and the rich flavor of beef in my mouth. I love a steak with a bit of chew, and this one was perfect.

However, being a steak enthusiast, I didn’t opt for the pork throughout the meal, so I can’t share my experience with it 🙏

Next up was one of the highlights – the Mozambique lobster. After placing the steak aside, I immediately made my way to the lobster queue. Thanks to its favorable location, there weren’t too many people in line yet, so I grabbed two plates.

Since they were freshly pan-fried, I decided to sit down and start savoring them. I inserted a fork into the tail end and slowly pulled it out, effortlessly separating the lobster meat from the shell.

Anxiously, I placed it in my mouth, and as I delicately sliced through the tender lobster meat with my teeth, my palate was instantly filled with the sweet freshness of the lobster. Just the second dish, and it brought tears of joy to my eyes.

See that perfect lobster meat 🤤🤤🤤

Next up, it was time for our star performers – the scallops! Watching the staff confidently place those plump and fresh scallops on the griddle was truly a delightful sight 🥺

Taking a big bite of perfectly seared scallops was an even greater pleasure 😜.

As I gently parted its plump belly with chopsticks, a huge and densely packed mass of ayu sweetfish roe spilled out.

On the quest for culinary treasures, I stumbled upon another gem – it was Wagyu beef!!!

As a carnivore, there was no way I could resist. I grabbed two plates at once, delicately picked up a slice, and placed it into my mouth. The rich marbling of fat enveloped my taste buds, and for the first time, I truly understood the term ‘melts in your mouth.’

However, because of the Wagyu’s marbling, I started to feel a slight greasiness after a few slices, so I decided to pause and go get more lobster ~

This dessert is my absolute favorite. It features a champagne core enveloped in a layer of white wine jelly. The champagne mousse has a silky texture, complemented by the chewiness of the jelly, creating a delightful balance of tartness and sweetness, reminiscent of a first love.

The side serving of sorbet carries a subtle osmanthus fragrance, making it sweet but not overly so—extremely refreshing!

And here are some other pictures

As it was two days before my birthday, the restaurant prepared a small cake to wish me an early happy birthday. This meal concluded right here.

Conclusion

In summary, I personally believe that the overall value for the food at this place is quite high. The lobsters are generously portioned, with half a lobster served at a time, and the scallops are served one plate at a time. For seafood enthusiasts, I highly recommend giving it a try.

The other unmentioned dishes are not bad at all, but I selected the more unique ones to amaze everyone and leave some delightful surprises for those planning to visit~
